Zlenice – Bachtik ante Portas
Going on Zlenice, I knew my main goal was not to shoot a perfect documentary, nor a classic mixture of portraits, random snaps and interesting candids without a meaning to please every possible taste a tiny bit.
Which equals pleasing none at all for me, especially not pleasing myself in the process.
Having just discussed the difficulties of shooting a good spontaneous Larp video with Ondra, I wanted to find a usable point of view for video.
So far, I mostly knew what I am not gonna do. Hail to the inverted solutions
I thought like “Okay, what is that much interesting about Zlenice, that everyone will know what it is? Hmmm… Kalmund race (a bunch of extraordinary awesome people playing the most crazy creatures you can imagine) is absent this year, dammit! What else? Oh, maybe that big gate out there…”
And here I am. Sitting in front of the gate and thinking “nicely done man, what now?”
Okay, what some other would try in here? Gotcha, let’s try some pseudo-landscape stuff!
But what then? I couldn’t manage to make that landscape thing interesting. I thought I could cheat with people though… People always make the scene more lively. (naturally)
Nah, not gonna work either. I need them closer. And more interesting. And fuck that, I am getting bored once again, let’s try to be that funny leprechaun for a moment…
“Hey, ya there mister, ya lookin’ so good, so nice, ya wanna some picture? Fer wife, kids, whoever. Just a silver coin for being drawn forever, that is the deal of the day! Come closer, closer, not so clooose, aaaaaand done. Here you are”
He left happy. But he left me even happier. In the moment i saw the picture, I knew I am gonna rape timelapse a bit.
This way I spent most of two days. Shot about 500 still photos followed by a few timelapse videos, yay!
Did you get what it means? Yup, a video coming! A bit sentimental, but to hell with that. Sometimes it can be for good.
From the start, I was dedicated to create something different. Not the best. Not pleasing everyone. But just the way I fell it, I like it, I live it.
So, say, did it work? Tell you friends instead of me. Tell them, what a crazy little leprechaun tried to differ. Tell them to laugh, to smile, to enjoy.
And to share it further. Because for every one of them, I will utter an inhuman laugh!
